Regardless of how fascinating or compelling your theory is on how speed read, here are my four basic approach to that;
1. Select Topic/Content
Before learning how to read quickly, choosing a book I wanted to read rather than the one I needed to read was one of the most frustrating issues I encountered. There are many topics out there that, in one way or another contribute significantly in some certain aspect of our lives.
Consequently, you should choose your reading material based on your capacity to generate results. Because there are some topics that, based on your background knowledge, they seem difficult to understand, so in order to comprehend them you need to go outside your wheelhouse. For instance, a solid mathematical foundation is undoubtedly needed to understand mathematical statistics, problems involving randomness and uncertainty. likewise on productivity, you need knowledge on how to manage your time effectively in order to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. So in selecting the topic to read, you should choose it, based on the background knowledge you already have for it, if you want it to be more likely to speed up your reading. Because when you start reading some books that they are not appropriate for you, they might seem difficult to comprehend, so disregard them and focus on the books that you have the foundation to understand well.
2. Scheduling
Your ability to plan your reading time eliminates nearly all of the challenges that you might experience while reading a book. If you could adapt and organise your calendar for a specific time and location when reading for a particular book, nearly all of the excuses that could have prevented you from reading will be taken care of. Therefore, you must develop a system that you can adapt. Avoid creating a schedule that you can't keep up with.
Also, if you can manage to read three times a week set it as your goal. If, for instance, you plan Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays as your goal reading days, then you should be present on these days and do your best to finish the target number of chapters before your time runs out. If you are able to master the schedule, you can extend the duration. You should also set times and durations that you can adapt.
3. Consistency
You already know that everything you do or want to do in life depends on the small effort and improvements you make over a long period of time which when compounded over time, are likely to yield amazing outcomes. Therefore, you should maintain getting better every day to reach your speed reading objectives.
4. Results
Your ability to produce results on speed read is based on how effective your strategy to select the book you needed to read and how well you could adjust your timetable for each task at hand.
Finally, whatever outcomes you are able to attain will depend on your system and how effectively you used your resources to meet the goal. If you had the self-control to adhere to your schedule on time, you could achieve great success.
